Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve compiled answers to the questions families ask most often. If you need more information, we’re always happy to help.

Bright Star Pediatric Therapy provides comprehensive speech-language and occupational therapy services for children with a wide range of developmental needs.

Our speech-language pathologists treat articulation and phonological disorders, language disorders, fluency disorders, social pragmatic challenges, auditory processing disorders, and cognitive‑communication needs. We also specialize in early intervention and reading intervention.

Our occupational therapists support children in developing functional skills for daily living, including fine motor coordination, sensory processing, self‑help skills, handwriting, play skills, and regulation.

Our team is experienced in working with children on the autism spectrum and their families. At Bright Star Pediatric Therapy, your child’s growth and well‑being always come first.

Start by scheduling a consultation call with us. During this call, we’ll determine whether a speech-language evaluation, occupational therapy evaluation, or both are appropriate. If an evaluation is recommended, we will promptly schedule a comprehensive assessment tailored to your child’s needs.

After the evaluation, your therapist will review the results with you and determine whether therapy is recommended. You’ll receive a clear plan of care, including:

  • Recommended therapy type(s)
  • Frequency and duration of sessions
  • Goals and treatment priorities
  • Any additional assessments or referrals that may support your child’s progress

Therapy sessions typically last 30–60 minutes, depending on your child’s needs and goals.

  • Speech therapy sessions focus on communication skills, language development, speech sound production, social communication, and functional strategies you can use at home.

  • Occupational therapy sessions may include fine motor activities, sensory‑motor play, self‑help skill development, handwriting practice, or regulation strategies.

We encourage families to be active participants when appropriate. At the end of each session, your therapist will review the strategies used and provide ideas for home practice.

During your consultation call, we’ll determine the most appropriate location for your child’s evaluation and ongoing therapy.

Our therapists provide services in:

  • Daycares
  • Private schools
  • Homes
  • Mutually convenient community locations when appropriate

Therapy frequency depends on your child’s individual needs, evaluation results, and treatment plan. Most children attend 1–3 sessions per week, with each session lasting 30–60 minutes.

We do not currently accept insurance; however, we can provide a superbill upon request. Your insurance provider may or may not reimburse for out‑of‑network services. We are a private‑pay practice and accept cash, credit or debit cards, and Zelle.

Bright Star Pediatric Therapy is also an approved Step Up for Students provider, and families may use eligible scholarship funds toward services.

We encourage families to contact their insurance provider to learn more about out‑of‑network benefits and to explore scholarship options through Step Up for Students.
